Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for our Charlottesville, VA site. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining software and firmware components for mission systems, with opportunities to work across the full software development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of relevant engineering experience, strong C/C++ skills, and familiarity with Linux or VxWorks RTOS, software architecture, and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related STEM field with 2+ years of relevant engineering experience (Masters with 0 years).
• Experience with Object Oriented Programming in C/C++.
• Experience developing Embedded Software running Linux or VxWorks RTOS.
• Familiarity with software architecture and design patterns.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash).
• Familiarity with CI/CD Pipeline development (DevOps).
• Familiarity with Agile/Waterfall methodologies.
• Familiarity with various version control systems and Agile planning tools (Git, GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, ClearCase; Jira).
• US Citizenship required; ability to obtain Secret clearance; occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, operate, and maintain software components and firmware for defense systems.
• Apply SBOM and model-based engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and internal teams to meet requirements.
