Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks an Embedded Software Engineer – Level 3 or 4 to develop space flight software platforms in the Space Systems organization. The role is onsite in Dulles, VA, with a 9/80 schedule and some travel.

You will work on mission-critical software interacting with hardware, and contribute to requirements, validation, and integration activities. Ideal candidates have a strong background in C/C++, Python, MATLAB, and experience with embedded systems, hardware debugging, and version

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering or related STEM field required.
• US citizenship and active U.S. Government Top-Secret (TS) security clearance required.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python; MATLAB proficiency.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience debugging hardware and software; familiarity with revision control tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software modules interacting with hardware interfaces (UART, MIL-STD-1553, SPACEWIRE, SPI).
• Define flight-software requirements, testing, and verification plans.
• Create and integrate BSPs and device drivers.
• Perform trade studies via simulations and hardware kits.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate flight software with simulation platforms.
• Prepare design documents, analyses, and test results for customers.
