Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Dulles, VA, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer – Level 3 or 4 to develop space flight software platforms for National Space Security programs. The role is on-site, with a 9/80 schedule and opportunities to work with diverse engineers on critical missions.

You will design, test, and integrate software with hardware, use C/C++, Python, MATLAB, and work with BSPs, interfaces like UART, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire. A TS clearance is required; Level depends on experience.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government Top-Secret clearance required, current and within scope.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years (Level 3) or 8+ years (Level 4) in relevant field.
• Proficient in C/C++, Python; MATLAB experience expected.
• Experience with hardware/software integration and verification.
• Ability to document and present technical status to management.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software modules interfacing with hardware protocols (UART, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, SPI).
• Define flight-software requirements, testing and verification plans.
• Develop and configure BSPs and device drivers.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate flight software with simulation platforms.
• Analyze resources to improve efficiency, stability and speed.
• Prepare design docs and status presentations for customers.
