Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Software Engineer - Embedded (RIS) to join the Platform Software Team in California. This hybrid role requires you to work from an HPE office two days per week and contribute to cutting-edge platform software powering next‑gen routers.

The role emphasizes C/C++ development, Linux proficiency, and collaboration across engineering and support teams in a dynamic, inclusive environment. A BS in CS/EE with 2+ years of experience is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field with 4 years of experience; Master’s degree is a plus
• Minimum 2 years in C programming
• At least 2 years in C++ programming
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux
• Proven ability to maintain and enhance existing software features
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Platform Infrastructure Development: design, implement, and maintain infrastructure software components (Routing Engine Redundancy, High Availability, chassis and line card operations, fabric interconnects, optical module integration)
• Diagnostics Software: develop robust diagnostics tools to ensure reliability and performance of HPE routers
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with system and solution test teams for high-quality product delivery
• Customer Support: partner with the HPE TAC to provide engineering support for critical customer escalations and deployments
