Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise, located in Sunnyvale, is seeking a Platform Software Engineer to design, develop, and troubleshoot high-performance networking and security software for embedded platforms. You will work on operating systems, network subsystems, and drivers to meet scalability needs.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, utilize OS internals and virtualization, and contribute to architecture reviews.

Qualifications

• Master or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems.
• 5-8 years of experience in networking, embedded systems, or high-performance security platforms.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience with switches, routers, and security systems.
• Experience developing software for multi-core embedded platforms, including network interfaces and security processing.

Responsibilities

• Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for networking system software, including operating systems and security functions.
• Develops and maintains network interfaces, protocols, and underlying SDKs to meet high-performance requirements.
• Analyzes design requirements, defines coding and integration activities, and contributes to architectural reviews.
• Executes and contributes to test plans, verification protocols, and documentation; debugs issues and proposes improvements.
• Collaborates with hardware, QA, system test, and customer-facing teams to deliver robust software solutions.
• Investigates complex field issues through log-driven debugging and system-level analysis.
• Supports sustaining engineering through maintenance and enhancement of existing features.
