Job summary

Williams International is seeking an Engineer – Embedded Software Test to join our on-site team. The role involves creating test cases for embedded software, developing unit tests, and ensuring compliance with software quality standards including DO-178C.

You will participate in hardware-in-the-loop testing on both targets and simulators, with future growth into test case development and feature enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with GPA 3.0+ preferred.
  • Knowledge of unit testing and code coverage.
  • Exposure to the C programming language.
  • Experience with microcontrollers (Power PC or TI preferred).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Create test cases for embedded software using a common code base.
  • Develop unit tests for existing code and review tests to improve tooling.
  • Ensure work products comply with WI software standards and DO-178C alignment.
  • Participate in hardware-in-the-loop testing on target items and simulators.
  • Explore future HWIL test cases and feature development for product software.

The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer – Embedded Software Test to join our team.

This position is 100% on‑site.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the embedded software development team in creating test cases for existing and new embedded software, configured under a common code base
  • Work with the existing test case development team and create allocated unit tests for existing code, growing into reviewing unit test cases of others and improving the unit test tool chain
  • Responsible for ensuring all work products comply with WI software standards to support overall product compliance with industry software quality standards, such as DO‑178C
  • Be a part of hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, both on the target end items as well as system simulators
  • Future opportunities for this position include development of hardware‑in‑the‑loop test cases for product acceptance, integration testing of the end‑item software, and development of new features in the product software
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, with preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Knowledge of fundamental software testing paradigms such as unit testing and code coverage
  • Exposure to the C programming language
  • Experience and knowledge of microcontrollers, with experience in Power PC or TI microcontrollers preferred
  • One to two summer intern or co‑op experiences in an engineering environment preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed.
