Job summary

General Motors is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join the Battery Energy Transfer organization. The role focuses on embedded software for electrified vehicles, including onboard charging, power conversion, and vehicle-to-everything capabilities.

You will design, implement, integrate, and validate production-quality software across software, controls, hardware, and validation teams. Hybrid work model with relocation benefits possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years in automotive embedded software development, power-electronics controls, or related field.
• Experience writing production-ready C/C++ software for embedded systems.
• Understanding real-time embedded software design, interfaces, state machines, and HW/SW integration.
• Ability to translate requirements into design, implementation and verification.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded C/C++ software for automotive power-electronics and energy-transfer applications.
• Design software for AC/DC charging, DC/DC conversion, voltage/current regulation, and fault handling.
• Translate system/controls requirements into clear software designs and implementations.
• Collaborate with software architects, system engineers, HW teams, calibration and validation to resolve issues.
• Support software architecture, interface definition, and requirements traceability.
• Develop and review software using MISRA-aligned practices and automotive standards.
• Utilize CAN and other vehicle communications for interfaces and diagnostics.
• Perform unit, integration, HIL, and vehicle-level testing; drive root-cause analysis.
• Support automated build, test, and CI workflows.
