Job summary

RTX in Cedar Rapids is seeking an embedded software engineer to design and develop Linux-based systems for secure communications and mission-critical applications. You will work with FPGA, hardware, and systems teams to integrate software across boards and platforms.

You will build and maintain the Linux toolchain, kernel, BSP, and drivers, and contribute to debugging, bring-up, and product quality efforts in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree.
• Experience with Linux command-line tools and embedded software.
• Experience developing or supporting embedded C/C++ applications.
• Familiarity with Python and Bash scripting.
• Exposure to hardware integration, board bring-up, or embedded systems development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance our Linux OS ecosystem including build toolchain, kernel, root filesystem, bootloader, drivers and BSP.
• Contribute to embedded Linux software design, coding, testing and delivery.
• Participate in root cause analysis and resolve complex hardware-software issues.
• Prepare software builds for simulation and target hardware execution.
• Follow Collins Aerospace processes to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to engineering estimates for change requests or problem reports.
