Job summary

CareerNerds is assisting a client in recruiting a hands-on Embedded OS Engineer to own the Ubuntu-based Linux firmware stack on the MK2 drone platform (Qualcomm QRB5165). You will build, secure, and ship the OS through automated CI/CD pipelines, not just application-layer work.

The role requires navigating low-level OS internals, Yocto BitBake, system unit files, and headless embedded hardware. You will maintain the build system, write patches, optimize times, harden security, and improve

Qualifications

• Experience with Yocto/BitBake and embedded Linux.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation (e.g., Jenkins).
• Ability to work on headless embedded hardware and low-level OS internals.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the qti-ubuntu-robotics-image and build system.
• Debug BitBake tasks and optimize build times.
• Manage image packaging, dependencies and exclusions across recipes.
• Write patch files against pinned BSP sources to avoid direct upstream modification.
• Implement OS hardening, post-processing steps and fleet‑level reliability.
