Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking an experienced embedded Linux engineer to own the boot chain and hardware-software integration for deployed robotic systems at the edge. You will customize vendor BSPs, patch kernel and device trees, and ensure deterministic hardware enumeration across boots, while triaging CVEs and maintaining secure, field-ready platforms for critical defense applications.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional embedded Linux platform work.
• Deep understanding of the embedded Linux boot chain (U-Boot, EDK2).
• Strong C, and experience in Rust or C++ for userspace integration.
• Experience diagnosing hardware at bench and reading schematics.
• Experience maintaining software on deployed hardware with safe updates.
• U.S. Person status required for export control regulations, with eligibility for a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the boot path end-to-end on deployed compute: low-level firmware, U-Boot/UEFI, unified kernel images, initrd, encrypted storage unlock, and handoff to a running NixOS environment.
• Customize & Sustain Vendor BSPs: Reconcile vendor BSPs with modern NixOS package sets; patch kernel and device trees as needed.
• Guarantee Deterministic Hardware Availability: Ensure peripherals are enumerated, named, and operational across boots and upgrades.
• Sustain a Long-Lived Baseline: Maintain signed boot chain and encrypted storage; triage CVEs in vendor kernels.
• Automate & Validate: Build and maintain automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) tests.
• Perform Deep Hardware/Software Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose intermittent bus errors, thermal/power issues, kernel panics, and boot hangs.
• Be the Upstream: Triage upstream issues, patch when needed, carry patch sets forward.
