Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking software engineering interns in San Mateo, CA to work on embedded systems powering our security and AI-enabled devices. You will join a fast-growing team building across the full stack, from firmware on devices to cloud-facing services, with an emphasis on real-time safety features and high reliability.

We expect students to contribute to embedded Linux, C/C++, and Go code, collaborate with hardware, and participate in an Agile development process.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field; graduating by June 2027.
• Internship experience developing and launching products.
• Experience with Embedded Linux, C, USB, I2C, and Yocto.
• Familiar with Linux servers, device drivers, kernel patches, and security-focused programming.
• Comfortable working in an Agile software team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve embedded software for fleet devices.
• Manage priorities, deadlines and deliverables across projects.
• Collaborate with hardware team to build features in C, C++, and Go for embedded software and firmware.
• Design, develop and verify embedded software, firmware and drivers.
• Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams to ship features.
• Experiment and test with new development boards.
• Contribute to codebase to push features OTA regularly.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to define future specs.
