Job summary

E-Space is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to work on real firmware for real hardware in a sensor-rich IoT device. You will be embedded with a senior firmware engineer, writing production C on Zephyr RTOS, bringing up sensors, and moving data from edge to cloud.

You will gain hands-on experience debugging on live boards, building with West and CMake, and contributing to edge-to-cloud connectivity while learning ML deployment on hardware.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Solid C programming fundamentals and ability to read datasheets.
• Exposure to microcontrollers through coursework, projects or internships.
• Basic Git fluency: branching, commits, PRs.
• Comfort with the command line and one scripting language (Python preferred).
• Curiosity and persistence; embedded debugging rewards persistence.
• On-site work in Arlington, TX for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Write and debug firmware in C on Zephyr RTOS for Arm Cortex-M MCUs.
• Integrate sensors and sampling pipelines (IMUs, accelerometers, microphones, temp) via I2C/SPI/I2S.
• Build, flash, and debug boards daily using West, CMake, SWD/J-Link, serial consoles.
• Contribute to edge-to-cloud connectivity (Wi-Fi, MQTT over TLS, Thread/BLE).
• Assist with collecting datasets and evaluating on-device ML models.
