Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in San Mateo is seeking a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to lead the development of new camera categories and ensure reliability for a global IoT fleet. You will collaborate across Hardware, Product, Backend, and Frontend to bring first-generation systems to life and scale to millions of devices.

You’ll drive firmware roadmaps, optimize Linux-based edge services, and solve boot/timing challenges, upholding security and performance for real-world deployments.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of systems software experience in performance-constrained environments.
• 5+ years building software for Linux-based platforms.
• Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end lifecycle of entirely new camera categories for untapped markets.
• Own the firmware roadmap and drive large-scale architectural changes.
• Engineer high-performance features across a Linux-based edge software stack.
• Tackle complex system-level challenges including race conditions and timing issues.
• Balance hardware security, performance, power efficiency, and fleet observability.
• Partner with CV, Streaming, and Storage teams to push edge computing capabilities.
• Design deployment and monitoring strategies for a global fleet of devices.
