Job summary

Verkada is seeking a Software Engineering intern to join our fast-growing team in San Mateo, CA. You will work on embedded software across devices, collaborating with hardware and product teams to ship features that customers rely on worldwide.

The role requires actively pursuing a BS or MS in CS or a related field and graduating by June 2027, with internship experience and hands-on work with Embedded Linux, C, USB, I2C, and Yocto. On-site presence is expected during winter/summer 2027.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field and graduating by June 2027.
Internship experience developing and launching products.
Experience with Embedded Linux, C, USB, I2C and Yocto.
Familiar with Linux servers, device drivers, kernel patches, and security-focused programming.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve the embedded software for our fleet of devices.
Effectively manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables on all projects.
Work cross-functionally with the hardware team to build features in C, C++, and Go for embedded software and firmware.
Design, develop and verify embedded software, firmware and drivers for our systems.
Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams to ship features that delight users.
