Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to help develop connected HVAC products that are smarter, more secure, and more efficient. You will design, implement, and optimize firmware for ARM Cortex-M based systems, supporting both bare-metal and RTOS environments.

Collaborate with hardware and wireless teams to integrate firmware with devices, enable Z-Wave and sub-GHz protocols, and ensure reliable operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Strong experience developing embedded software in Embedded C.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and bare-metal/RTOS firmware.
• Proficiency with interrupt-driven architectures and embedded peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, DMA, timers, watchdogs).
• Experience building bootloaders, firmware update systems, and low-power embedded apps.
• Experience debugging with J-Link, SWD, GDB, or similar tools.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently with hardware teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for ARM Cortex-M based systems.
• Develop bare-metal and RTOS firmware using Embedded C.
• Implement and optimize drivers for UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, DMA, timers, and watchdogs.
• Design bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, and low-power applications.
• Develop and support wireless solutions including Z-Wave and sub-GHz protocols.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate firmware with hardware platforms.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and validate embedded systems using J-Link, SWD, GDB, and other tools.
• Contribute to secure firmware design, OTA updates, and product reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement.
