Job summary

Battelle in Columbus, OH seeks an Electronics and Electrical System Design Engineer to join a team designing advanced electronic and electromechanical systems for government and industry clients. Onsite work is required for 6-9 months with potential future hybrid arrangements based on contracts.

The role emphasizes proposal work, IR&D studies, client relations, and supporting business development, with growth beyond technical skills.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited ECE or related degree with 5+ years of experience, or related degree with 8+ years, or advanced degree with 2+ years.
• Strong analytical approach and self-motivated to learn on the job.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• US citizen and willing to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design complex electronic/electromechanical systems with block diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Generate and debug firmware for embedded microprocessors.
• Perform reverse engineering of electronic systems.
• Conduct calculations and simulations; perform trade studies for components.
• Review PCB layouts and generate documentation.
• Perform testing, debugging, and issue resolution with standard lab equipment.
• Write test plans and assist technicians with setup.
• Interpret requirements to inform engineering decisions.
• Create presentations and technical reports including manuals and procedures.
• Support designs post-delivery and contribute to proposals and R&D studies.
