Job summary

Inversion is seeking an Avionics Embedded Software Engineering Intern to support development, integration, verification, and debugging of embedded software for our next‑generation reentry vehicles. You will work with embedded software, electrical, RF, GNC, test, and vehicle engineers to interface flight hardware with software.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree in a related engineering field.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internships, labs, projects).
• Experience in embedded systems, computer architecture, RTOS, or related topics.
• Experience programming in C or C++.
• Experience developing software for microcontrollers or embedded platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, and debug flight software and firmware with avionics engineers.
• Create software for microcontrollers, sensors, and avionics interfaces.
• Support board bring-up and HW/SW integration, debugging interfaces.
• Develop and debug drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, GPIO, ADCs.
• Run software tests using lab hardware and hardware-in-the-loop systems.
• Use RTOS or embedded frameworks for real-time software development.
• Debug issues with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, serial consoles, and instrumentation.
• Write test scripts and tools in Python for automation and validation.
• Analyze failures with multidisciplinary teams and document findings.
