Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed with a strategic enterprise customer and independently design, build, deploy, and run AI-powered production systems alongside the customer's engineering team.

The role involves producing production-grade software, guiding end-to-end AI workstreams, and mentoring others. Travel 30–50% is required, with strong emphasis on delivering measurable business outcomes within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
2+ years of experience in Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment
Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus)
Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Responsibilities

Embed within customer engineering teams to understand business value and translate requirements into designs.
Build production AI applications powering AI workflows and integrate data sources.
Own production for your workstream across design, code, testing, deployment, and operations.
Mentor and uplift team members through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators for deployments.
