Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed with enterprise customers, designing and deploying AI-powered production systems. You will own features end-to-end, work with customer engineers, and help scale AI solutions in production.

The role requires US citizenship and a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance, and willingness to travel 30–50% to customer sites in the Seattle area and beyond. As a Forward Deployed Engineer II, you will collaborate across teams to deliver robust AI-enabled

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus).
Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

Embed within customer engineering teams to understand business value and translate requirements into designs for AI-enabled production systems (30–50% travel).
Build production AI applications: design and develop production-grade software powering AI/workflows, integrate data sources and applications, optimize latency, reliability and cost.
