CommonLit is a nonprofit edtech organization dedicated to closing the literacy opportunity gap, which disproportionately affects students living in poverty. To achieve this goal, CommonLit provides a highly effective, comprehensive reading program used by millions of teachers. We are a team of passionate professionals, many of whom are former teachers.
The Opportunity
CommonLit is looking for an Email Marketing Automation Specialist (Contractor) to drive our retention marketing efforts by scaling personalized outreach through smarter, more powerful email marketing. In this role, you’ll design and implement a fully automated lifecycle system that helps us reach more customer educators with timely, relevant communication, which enables our team to deepen impact while scaling their support.
You’ll audit our current setup, build new workflows using Redshift data and advanced segmentation, and train internal team members to manage the system long-term. We’re looking for someone with deep technical know-how, a sharp eye for lifecycle strategy, and a builder’s mindset. Your work will be key to scaling our retention efforts and will directly shape how thousands of partners experience CommonLit.
The Email Marketing Automation Specialist (Contractor) will be reporting directly to the Director of Marketing. The contract length is 4 months; up to 20 hours per week, with potential for light advisory support after handoff. Our target onboarding date is late June to early July.
