Qualifications

About Us

At Elliot Endocrinology Associates, we provide specialized care in diabetes, thyroid and parathyroid conditions, osteoporosis, pituitary and adrenal disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, and other hormone conditions. Our goal is to provide expert endocrinology care in a patient-centered, compassionate setting. Our staff includes Board Certified Endocrinologists, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Diabetes Educators, Registered Nurses, and Certified Medical Assistants.

Position Summary

Assists providers in the administration of patient care in assigned clinical areas. Assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes. Performs general administrative duties in accordance with JCAHO, CLIA, NCQA, and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares visit charts based on daily scheduled appointments, including diagnostic test results, emergency/urgent care reports, discharge summaries, and consult/PCP reports, ensuring accessibility for providers.
  • Performs rooming activities for provider visits, including documenting chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, medication review, tobacco history, LMP, health maintenance overrides, and timely documentation.
  • Accurately obtains and documents age and condition-specific measurements such as vital signs, height, weight, head circumference, peak flow, and pulse oximetry.
  • Conducts and documents hearing, vision, respiratory, and ECG testing.
  • Performs and documents screenings like depression and asthma based on patient needs.
  • Obtains, documents, and processes specimens using proper collection methods.
  • Performs point-of-care testing accurately.
  • Performs venipuncture procedures and processes specimens per policies.
  • Administers medications and immunizations via appropriate routes.
  • Processes medication refills via telephonic, electronic, or print methods.
  • Handles prior authorization processes for medications and procedures, documenting appropriately.
  • Manages clinical supplies and medication samples, ensuring proper stock, labeling, and par levels.
Education/Experience/Licensure
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant or LPN program.
  • 1-3 years of medical assistant or LPN experience preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification/ABR-OE recommended.
  • Computer/EMR experience preferred.
