JAMES TEMPLETON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Tigard, Oregon is seeking a Title I Instructional Assistant 3 to support language-impaired students under the supervision of licensed teachers. The position is a .4688 FTE (3.75 hours/day) assignment starting as soon as possible after hire, with emphasis on assisting in reading, writing, and mathematics readiness for ELL students.

Ideal candidates will be highly qualified per district standards (72 quarter hours or an associate’s degree or equivalent

Qualifications

• Must be highly qualified with 72 quarter hours of credit; or an associate’s degree; or meet a rigorous standard assessed locally or via Praxis Parapro test.
• Proficient English usage, grammar and punctuation.
• Spanish preferred.
• Two years of post secondary college education or passing a state-approved test.
• Oregon Driver's License or able to get to work.
• Associates Degree in Education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed teachers in instructional programs for students with language needs.
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain classroom discipline.
• Provide translation support as needed.
• Escort and monitor students in classrooms, on buses, and during field trips.
• Communicate effectively with parents, including translation when needed.
