Job summary

Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in the Oxford Hills region seeks a qualified candidate for the position of High School Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach. You will lead the program, mentor student-athletes, and work with the Athletic Director to plan practices and contests.

The ideal candidate will have coaching experience and meet district requirements, fostering sportsmanship and discipline within a one-year appointment that emphasizes safety and community involvement.

Qualifications

• Successful coaching experience preferred.
• CPR, AFEP Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid courses or equivalent.
• At least 20 years of age.
• High School diploma.
• Must be approved by the Oxford Hills School District.
• Must sign a statement stating that he/she has read and understands and agrees to comply with all MPA By-Laws, policies and Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and/or interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniform, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his/her sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Attends lectures, rules interpretations and clinics to keep abreast of changes and methods that would improve the program.
• Meets with parents, the news media, booster groups and youth organizations to improve public relations and encourages support for the sport and other athletic activities.
