Job summary

BDO is seeking a Tax Manager, Private Client Services, to lead tax compliance and consulting for high net-worth clients. You will manage engagements, gather information from clients, and review returns, while coordinating with government agencies on complex matters.

The role emphasizes client service, technical research, and leadership within a collaborative PCS team. California and other markets have explicit salary ranges; this position offers growth and cross‑functional exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
• Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
• Five or more years experience in accounting, finance, or law required; public accounting or private client service experience preferred.
• CPA, EA, Attorney or equivalent required; other certifications helpful.

Responsibilities

• Manages tax engagements and client relationships while identifying tax planning and consulting opportunities.
• Gathers information from clients and advisors to prepare tax returns.
• Reviews individual, trust, estate, S‑Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns; provides feedback to staff.
• Directs communication with government agencies on complex matters.
• Performs advanced tax research and develops recommendations for PCS leadership.
• Develops tax knowledge through client engagements and current tax developments.
• Prioritizes tasks and collaborates with team to complete work.
• Supports PCS/firm billing, recruiting, and training activities.
