Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to perform high-voltage acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing for critical power systems up to 500kV. You will analyze test results, produce comprehensive reports, and mentor junior technicians in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates hold a NETA III/IV certification with 7+ years of HV testing experience; travel up to 75% is required.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III/IV certification required and in good standing.
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment including Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz and SKF.
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line/three-line diagrams, schematics and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record; willingness to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor-based).
• Inspect insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance for transformers, switchgear, cables, and breakers.
• Prepare engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field; serve as technical lead on projects.
