Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer – Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to lead testing and commissioning on high‑voltage power systems up to 500kV. You will perform tests, analyze data, and deliver detailed engineering reports while mentoring junior staff.

This role requires extensive hands-on HV experience and regional travel up to 75%. We offer a comprehensive package including a base rate up to $95/hour, signing bonus, a company vehicle, per diem, and professional development reimbursements.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments.
• Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, OSHA safety requirements.]
