Salt Lake County is seeking skilled maintenance technicians to service a wide range of equipment, including heavy trucks and municipal vehicles. This role requires a Journeyman-level technician with strong mechanical and electrical repair skills and the ability to work in a busy fleet environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of related experience required.
• Must possess a complete set of tools.
• A valid Driver’s License accepted by Utah is required at hire; Utah license within 6 months to operate County vehicles.
• CDL Class A or B required at hire or within 30 days to operate County vehicles.
• UDOT Medical Card required at hire.
• Must pass a drug test and be subject to random alcohol/drug testing.
• Background check via fingerprinting and RAP Back program is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repairs on light to heavy equipment incl. gas, diesel, CNG and electric vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems; determine parts required.
• Repair engines, transmissions, fuel systems, brakes, and suspensions.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and GPS-controlled systems.
• Install/diagnose in-vehicle equipment and radios.
• Test and certify CNG fueling systems; maintain records and reports.
