Job summary

Pala Band of Mission Indians in Pala, CA seeks a Firefighter/Paramedic to respond to alarms and provide lifesaving medical care on the fire department team. You will operate firefighting equipment, perform rescue and medical duties, and support public safety and community health initiatives.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic mathematics and mechanical relationships.
• Knowledge of record-keeping methods.
• Knowledge of the proper methods, materials, tools and equipment used in firefighting.
• Knowledge of the general principles of fire suppression and prevention.
• Knowledge of advanced first aid and medical supplies.
• Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
• Knowledge of laws, ordinances and codes governing Emergency Medical Technicians.
• Knowledge of diagnostic signs and treatments per San Diego Protocols.
• Ability to administer lifesaving procedures and use invasive clinical techniques as part of an EMT/paramedic team.

Responsibilities

• Respond to alarms and emergency calls to protect life and property.
• Render first aid lifesaving measures and provide patient transport when needed.
• Operate, inspect and maintain firefighting tools, equipment and vehicle systems.
• Assist in fire prevention inspections and public information activities.
• Conduct fire drills and assist in fire investigations and report writing.
• Maintain familiarity with fire station and grounds; interpret applicable codes and regulations.
• Provide medical aid according to established procedures and hospital protocols.
