Job summary

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians invites applications for a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic in Banning, CA. Under the Fire Chief, you fight fires and perform emergency medical and rescue work, while participating in prevention, station upkeep, and training activities.

You will also handle hazmat mitigation and related duties as required. As a paramedic, you provide advanced life support, assess and treat patients, and relay conditions to the base station.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED supplemented by graduation from a State Certified Fire Academy required.
• Valid California Ambulance Driver’s License (DMV) or able to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Valid Medical Examiner’s Card (DMV) or able to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Valid Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Certification (EMT-P).
• CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider level).
• CSFM Firefighter academy certificate.
• ACLS certification or RHEART equivalent.
• PALS certification.
• ITLS / PHTLS certification.
• REMSA Accreditation or must obtain within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Fights fires and assists in emergency medical and rescue work under the Fire Chief.
• Participates in fire prevention, station maintenance, cooking, cleaning and training activities.
• Mitigates hazardous material incidents and performs related duties as required.

Description

Under the direction of the Fire Chief, fights fires, assist in and performs emergency medical and rescue work; participates in fire prevention, station maintenance, cooking, cleaning, and training activities; mitigates hazardous material incidents; performs relates duties as required In addition the paramedic assignment includes providing advance life support care to injured or critically ill victims. Paramedics examine, evaluate, and treat patient condition; communicate patient condition to the base station.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED supplemented by graduation from a State Certified Fire Academy required.
• Valid California Class C drivers or Class C Firefighter license and insurable on company policy.
• Driving record in compliance with company policy.
• Valid California Ambulance Driver’s License (from DMV) or able to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Valid Medical Examiner’s Card (from DMV) or able to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Valid Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational (FRO) Certificate or able to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Valid Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Certification (EMT-P)
• Valid American Heart Association or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider level CPR certification.
• California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) Firefighter academy certificate.
• Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or RHEART equivalent.
• Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Valid International Trauma life Support (ITLS) / (PHTLS) certification.
• Valid Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority REMSA Accreditation or must be obtain within 30 days of employment.
