Job summary

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is seeking a FAE RANGE B - PARAMEDIC to operate fire apparatus and lead firefighting crews in wildland and structural incidents. In addition to firefighting duties, the role includes paramedic responsibilities in emergency medical situations.

Applicants must hold an EMT-P license, CPAT card, and medical clearance; a valid driver’s license with Firefighter endorsement is required.

Qualifications

• Medical clearance required prior to hire.
• CA EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P) license required.
• Valid CPAT card or completion.
• Valid driver’s license with Firefighter endorsement.
• Annual medical clearance fit-testing for respirators (SCBA) as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate fire apparatus and equipment during wildland and structural firefighting operations.
• Lead a crew and perform firefighting duties; maintain vehicles and stations.
• Render advanced life support in emergencies as a paramedic.
• Prepare reports, records, and documentation for patient care and equipment use.
• Assist in training crews and performing fire prevention activities.
