Job summary

City and County of Denver is seeking an Athletic Fields Maintenance Technician to perform semi-skilled trades for the construction, maintenance, and repair of city-wide athletic fields.

The role supports renovations of sports complexes to provide safe playing surfaces for all users. Ideal candidates have turf management licensure, landscaping knowledge, and the ability to operate painting equipment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of athletic activities and maintenance/repair of athletic fields.
• Knowledge of landscaping maintenance.
• Licensure or certification in Turf Management.
• Basic knowledge of use of mobile devices and computers.
• Experience using a painter.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fields by dragging the infield, chalking dimensions, watering infield, and setting bases.
• Perform field maintenance including filling holes, adding clay, inspecting fields for safety.
• Use independent judgment in grounds maintenance activities.
• Follow verbal and written directions.
• Install and weekly paint athletic fields.
• Ensure proper drainage and repair of worn spots.
• Complete field preparation on Sundays in season.
• Perform snow removal duties as needed.]
• Attention to detail and communication are essential.
• Must be able to lift and shovel, and work physically demanding tasks.
