Job summary

The City Of Villa Rica is seeking a dedicated athletic field and facilities maintenance worker to uphold park safety and field quality. You will prepare baseball fields, level paths, rake, chalk infields, cut grass, and operate mowers and tractors under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; one year of grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Must be able to operate and perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment used in athletic field upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Performs facilities maintenance duties including preparation of baseball fields by re-sodding and leveling base paths, raking and packing mounds and batter’s boxes, cutting grass, dragging fields, marking bases and chalking infield lines.
• Operates a variety of tools and equipment including power tools, lawn mowers, trucks and tractors.
• Ensures safety of all park facilities; performs general maintenance and repair to park facilities as required; maintains and repairs equipment.
• Assists with sprinkler systems, basic electrical repair work, and other city maintenance duties as necessary.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks in the maintenance of all athletic facilities and fields. This position reports to the Athletic Maintenance Supervisor.Major Duties:Performs various facilities maintenance duties including the preparation of baseball fields by re-sodding and leveling the base paths, raking and packing mounds and batter’s boxes, cutting grass, dragging fields, marking of bases and chalking infield lines;Operates a variety of tools and equipment including power tools, lawn mowers, trucks and tractors;Ensures the safety all park facilities; performs general maintenance and repair to park facilities as required;Maintains and repairs equipment; Ability to clean, oil, sharpen clippers; dismantle and repair sprinkler systemsAbility to perform light electrical repair work;Assist with other City maintenance and custodial duties as necessary;Performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge Required by the Position:Knowledge of City and department policies and procedures;Knowledge of how to prepare athletic fields and facilities for games and other activities;Knowledge of safety rules and regulations;Knowledge of the material commonly used in construction, maintenance and repair of park facilities;Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety standards and practices applicable to work being conducted;Skill in the operation, maintenance, and routine repair of equipment;Skill in performing various manual labor assignments as needed;Ability to perform parks maintenance activities;Ability to perform general equipment/tool maintenance duties;Ability to interpret instructions and efficiently carry them out with general supervision;Ability to perform tasks involving heavy manual labor;Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, the general public and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.Guidelines: Guidelines include City and departmental safety policies and procedures, as well as supervisory instructions.
