Job summary

The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) is hiring a Benefits and Eligibility Specialist (Eligibility Interviewer) to determine eligibility for Nutrition, Medical, and Cash assistance. This on-site position requires strong customer service, data entry, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced setting.

You will train on the job, assist clients in person or by phone, and review eligibility requirements with applicants from diverse backgrounds to guide them to resources.

Qualifications

• Experience performing eligibility reviews or customer service.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to explain eligibility requirements to applicants from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in-person and by telephone in a fast-paced office.
• Attend classroom training with on-the-job training.
• Provide excellent customer service to individuals and families.
• Collect information to conduct interviews for eligibility determinations.
• Enter data on a computer while talking to the client across multiple screens.
• Adhere to agency standards for metrics, attendance, service levels, accuracy and timeliness.
