Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington, Facility Operations, invites applicants to join a 4-year Elevator Craft Apprenticeship. You'll gain hands-on training under journey-level workers while completing related classroom instruction.

Selected candidates undergo a comprehensive program with approximately 144 classroom hours annually, paid by IU. Shifts vary; a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED/HSED).
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Willingness to participate in a 4-year apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair elevators, escalators, chairlifts, conveyors, and related components.
• Operate elevators to assess power demand and test performance.
• Order parts and perform maintenance, repairs, and replacements as needed.
• Assist in inspections, testing, and reporting results.
• Perform other general building maintenance tasks as assigned.
