Indiana University Bloomington, Facility Operations, invites applicants to join a 4-year Elevator Craft Apprenticeship. You'll gain hands-on training under journey-level workers while completing related classroom instruction.
Selected candidates undergo a comprehensive program with approximately 144 classroom hours annually, paid by IU. Shifts vary; a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma are required.
FACILITY OPERATIONS-IUB (BL-PHYP-IUBLA)
Capital Planning and Facilities (CPF) works to ensure that IU campuses are beautiful, functional, and sustainable supporting excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community engagement across the entire university. A unit within CPF, Facility Operations, maintains our physical campus to support research, teaching, and learning at Indiana University Bloomington. As a unit of Capital Planning and Facilities, Facility Operations provides wide-ranging services all with the goal of creating a beautiful, well-functioning campus.
This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one'sself in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and organals. The role requires the ability to ascend to rooftops and move in tight spaces to perform and complete inspections. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Indiana University Apprenticeship Program (IUAP), Bloomington Campus, is accepting applications for 2 Apprentice positions in the Elevator craft work. The work shifts can vary from first and second shifts. The selected candidates will engage in a 4-year apprenticeship training program within the Facility Operations department that will involve
Selected candidate is required to successfully complete approximately 144 classroom training hours during each of the 4 years of the apprenticeship period. The classroom sessions are paid by IU. The hours of required classroom attendance are non-compensated. Classroom sessions generally occur twice per week and are scheduled outside of the daily work hours.
Applicants must meet the minimum WorkKeys assessment levels in the following sections: Applied Math, Applied Technology, Locating Information, and Reading for Information.
