Job summary

Royal Sonesta New Orleans seeks a passionate Sommelier to curate and deliver elevated wine experiences across our dining outlets and events.

You will partner with Culinary and Food & Beverage teams to develop wine programs, train staff on service standards, and help drive beverage sales while ensuring guest delight. A strong knowledge of wines, varietals, regions, and certifications is preferred, with flexible evenings and events.

Qualifications

• Previous Sommelier or beverage service experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and pairing.
• Court of Master Sommeliers or WSET certification preferred.
• Excellent communication and guest engagement skills.
• Ability to drive beverage sales and create elevated guest experiences.
• Experience managing wine inventory and cellar operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Curate and manage hotel wine programs and lists across restaurants, bars, lounges, banquets, and events.
• Provide elevated guest service with wine pairings and recommendations.
• Partner with Culinary and F&B teams to develop pairing experiences and seasonal offerings.
• Train staff on wine knowledge, service standards, tasting notes, and upselling opportunities.
• Monitor wine inventory, ordering, storage, rotation, pricing, and cellar management.
• Support wine sales growth through tastings, events, and guest engagement.
• Ensure proper wine presentation, opening, decanting, serving, and storage procedures.
• Source wines and maintain strong beverage partnerships with vendors and distributors.
• Assist with banquets, weddings, and private dining as needed.
• Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines and sanitation standards.
