Job summary

Erie 1 BOCES is seeking a dedicated Support Teacher to provide instructional and behavioral support to students in general and special education settings. This itinerant role collaborates with classroom teachers to promote academic achievement and social-emotional development in a positive learning environment.

The position involves delivering targeted instruction, supporting IEP/504 plans, monitoring progress, and contributing to school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience providing instructional and behavioral support in K-12 settings.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers to implement differentiated instruction.
• Familiarity with monitoring progress and communicating findings to staff.

Responsibilities

• Delivered small-group and one-on-one instruction to reinforce classroom lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, and other core subjects.
• Collaborated with classroom teachers to implement differentiated instruction and accommodate diverse learning needs.
• Supported students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and intervention strategies as directed.
• Monitored student progress, documented academic and behavioral performance, and communicated observations with teachers and support staff.
• Assisted in implementing classroom management strategies and promoting positive student behavior.
• Prepared instructional materials, learning activities, and classroom resources to support daily instruction.
• Supervised students during classroom transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and school activities.
• Fostered a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encouraged student participation and independence.
• Communicated effectively with teachers, administrators, specialists, and families regarding student progress when appropriate.
• Participated in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives to support student success.
