Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a SPED paraeducator to support students by providing instructional assistance and accommodations to help them succeed academically and feel included.

Under the guidance of administrators, ESD staff, and certified teachers, you will reinforce lessons, adapt materials, monitor safety, and assist with progress reporting. This role emphasizes collaboration with families to communicate progress and supports students’ social and emotional growth.

Qualifications

• must be legally authorized to work in the United States and at least 18 years of age
• HS diploma or equivalent
• First Aid/CPR Certification preferred
• passing score of 455 on the ETS© ParaPathways Assessment, or show evidence of college credits (72 quarter credits/48 semester credits)
• completion of the FCS (Fundamental Course of Study, a 28-hour required training) within the first year of employment
• earn the General Paraeducator Certificate (an additional 70-hour training) within three years of completing the FCS

Responsibilities

• Assisting in Instruction: Provide instructional support to students under supervision.
• Classroom Management: help maintain a positive learning environment and enforce rules.
• Student Support: provide academic and emotional support to students, including those with special needs.
• Adaptation of Materials: modify instructional materials for diverse needs.
• Data Collection and Reporting: collect data on student progress and maintain records.
• Collaboration with Teachers: work with staff to implement lesson plans and interventions.
• Supervision and Safety: monitor students during activities and transitions.
• Communication with Families: maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress.
