Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Educational Assistant to support certified staff in classroom settings, helping students with reading, math and language arts while enabling teachers to focus on curriculum development. You will work with individuals and small groups, help with assessments, and support safety and orderly classrooms.

The role also involves supervising lunches, bus duty, playground duties, and accompanying students on field trips, with emphasis on inclusion for students with special needs

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
• Prior experience working with special needs children desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assist professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills.
• Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
• Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and ensure safety and order.
