Job summary

Springfield School District 186 is seeking a STRIVE 3-5 educator for the Springfield, Illinois area. The position is a 180‑day contract with start on Aug 20, 2026, reporting to the Building Principal.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering IEP-focused instruction, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, engaging families, and implementing evidence‑based practices to support student learning and behavior.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 elementary endorsement.
• Strong interpersonal communication with teachers, students, parents and staff.
• Ability to informally assess learning and behavioral needs of students.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons using evidence-based strategies and differentiated instruction.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices (ABA, Structured Teaching, Visual Supports).
• Implement the approved curriculum with fidelity.
• Collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers about student progress and strategies for home support.
• Use visual supports, structured routines, and sensory accommodations to promote a positive environment.
• Collect data on progress toward IEP goals and adjust teaching accordingly.
• Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by building principal or Student Support Services administrators.
