Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 elementary endorsement
- Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with teachers, students, parents and staff
- Ability to informally assess learning and behavioral needs of students
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student in the classroom, focusing on academic, social, communication, and behavioral goals.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons using evidence‑based strategies and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices (such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Structured Teaching, and Visual Supports).
- Implement the approved curriculum with fidelity.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress, discuss strategies for supporting learning and behavior at home, and collaborate on IEP development and implementation.
- Implement positive behavior support strategies and proactive interventions to promote a positive and supportive learning environment, including the use of visual supports, structured routines, and sensory accommodations.
- Collect data on student progress toward IEP goals and objectives, analyze data to inform instructional decision‑making, and adjust teaching strategies as needed to maximize student learning outcomes.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the building principal or student support services administrators.
Effective Date: First contractual day of the 2026‑2027 school year (District 186 180‑day calendar).
