Job summary

Cobb County School District is seeking an Elementary Special Education teacher (IRR) to develop and implement appropriate programs for eligible students with disabilities at GARRISON MILL ELEM SCHOOL. The role includes IEP development, collaboration with families, and delivering evidence-based instruction.

The position starts Oct 5, 2026, requires a bachelor’s degree and a valid Georgia teaching certificate, and provides a monthly pay schedule under the CIT pay grade with 187 workdays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; GACE Basic Skills and SPED tests required or exemptions.
• Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate.
• No prior experience required.
• Knowledge of disabilities and SPED practices; behavior management planning.

Responsibilities

• Maintains IEPs for each student on caseload, updated at least annually.
• Collaborates with parents/guardians regarding educational programs.
• Ensures compliance with paperwork timelines and district policies.
• Provides instruction per program guidelines and delivery model.
• Delivers research-based SPED services and data-driven behavior plans (FBAs/BIPs).
• Works as a resource to general education teachers for students with disabilities.
