Job summary

Cobb County School District is seeking an Elementary Special Education General Curriculum IRR teacher to develop and provide an appropriate SPED program for eligible learners in grades ES, MS, and HS. The role centers on implementing educational plans and collaborating with families within the district framework.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and valid Georgia teaching certificate. Experience is not required, but familiarity with IEP processes and behavior management is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; If seeking alternative certification, must have passed or exempted the GACE Basic Skills Test and the GACE SPED Content Test or Adaptive Content test.
• Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate.
• Experience: None.
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; knowledge of disability areas and special education practices; instructional strategies; student behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Develops, implements, monitors, and reviews the IEP for each student on the caseload, at least annually.
• Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program.
• Maintains lesson plans and submits paperwork within designated timelines.
• Delivers educational services according to program guidelines and delivery model.
• Implements data-driven behavior management strategies including FBAs and BIPs.
