Capital School District is seeking an Elementary Teacher - Special Education for the 2026-2027 school year at Booker T. Washington Elementary School.

This 10-month assignment offers a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, with a multi-year district approach to support inclusive classrooms. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Delaware teaching license with Elementary Teacher certification and possess Additional certification in Special Education of Students with Disabilities.

Qualifications

Possess or be eligible for a valid Delaware teaching license.
Be certified as Elementary Teacher per 14 Del. C. 1521.
Additional certification in Special Education of Students with Disabilities per 14 Del. C. 1571.
Able to perform essential job functions including exerting 20–50 lbs of force.

Responsabilités

Create a safe, supportive classroom environment suited to all students.
Plan and implement a personalized program meeting student needs and abilities.
Encourage students to set and maintain classroom behavior standards.
Provide standards-based instruction with clear goals for lessons and projects.
Keep rigorous records of preparation and progress for supervisor review.
Support district mission with high-yield instructional strategies.
Use culturally responsive teaching techniques and engage families.
Collaborate with the student support team to address behavioral and mental health needs.
Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours as needed.
Participate in professional growth activities and PLCs.
