Job summary

GT Norman Elementary is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our inclusive learning community. This full-time role focuses on collaboration with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement IEPs that promote academic success and social-emotional growth for students with diverse needs.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and valid elementary certification, with experience supporting students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field required.
• Valid elementary Special Education certification required.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lessons and provide accommodations.
• Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports engagement.
• Regularly communicate with parents about progress and IEP goals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to plan strategies for success.
• Provide direct instruction in academic and life skills and use varied teaching methods.
• Maintain accurate records of performance, attendance, and IEP documentation.
• Stay current with best practices in special education and pursue ongoing professional development.
