Qualifications

• Current Oklahoma Certificate as a Special Education Teacher.
• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or meets the state requirement.

Responsibilities

• Initiate/Participate in eligibility meetings as an expert in IDEA-BPL 101-74.
• Ensure each child has a current IEP with required signatures.
• Monitor the implementation of IEPs.
• Review and write IEPs on an annual basis.
• Provide the building principal with advice on special education issues.
• Provide staff with in-service sessions yearly as required by district policies and state/federal regulations.
• Collaborate with regular education staff regarding classroom inclusion and modification techniques.
• Assist the student in taking prescribed medications.
• Lift/move non-ambulatory students and assist in feeding when needed.
