Job summary

Visaphonics seeks qualified Sign Language Interpreters to support elementary students in the Virginia Beach area. The contract offers 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from August 25, 2026 through June 15, 2027, with 1:1 interpretation during the school day.

Assignments may shift between campuses to ensure coverage. Commitment to student-centered interpretation is essential; Visaphonics proficiency is appreciated but not required. Travel between schools in the region is possible.

Qualifications

• VA QA Screening Level III certification is required.
• EIPA score 3.5+ preferred; scores above 3.0 or QAS 3+ interviewable.
• Experience interpreting for elementary students in educational settings.
• Willingness to travel between campuses within the region.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective 1:1 sign language interpretation for assigned elementary students.
• Adapt interpreting methods to each student’s communication preferences.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to foster inclusive classrooms.
• Travel between schools within the region as needed and maintain confidential records.
