Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an elementary school teacher to provide instruction under moderate supervision, delivering engaging lessons and assessing student progress in alignment with state standards. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Teaching or related field.
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible for NC Teaching certification.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to North Carolina Teaching Standards.
• Assist administration in implementing district policies and maintaining classroom order.
• Create a high-expectation culture and rigorous instruction.
• Plan and implement a program of study aligned to standards.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various methods.
• Maintain engaging classroom environment and clear learning objectives.
• Prepare classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
• Diagnose learning challenges and maintain IEP/504 documentation.
• Provide instruction for all students including those with disabilities.
• Prepare materials and activities; offer varied learning experiences.
• Encourage perseverance and curiosity in learning.
• Use strategies promoting critical thinking and problem-solving.
• Administer and grade tests and assignments; monitor progress.
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.
• Attend PLCs and professional development.
• Perform safety drills to maintain a safe learning environment.
