Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education required
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible for NC Teaching certification in assigned area
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Adhere to state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Adhere to NC Professional Teaching Standards
• Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct
• Plan and implement a program of study in assigned content area
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods
• Create a classroom environment that engages students and meets learning objectives
• Establish clear lesson objectives aligned with district goals
• Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request
• Maintain records for IEPs and 504 Plans
• Provide instruction to meet needs of all students including those with disabilities and English learners
• Prepare materials and provide diverse learning activities
• Encourage student exploration and perseverance
• Use diverse teaching strategies to foster critical and creative thinking
• Administer and grade tests and assignments
• Test administrator for NC assessments as required
• Observe and assess student performance and behavior
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress and priorities
• Prepare enrichment and remediation programs
• Participate in PLC and professional development
• Perform safety drills and keep a safe learning environment
• Perform related duties as assigned
