Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible for NC Teaching certification.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.
• Assist school administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; establish classroom rules and maintain order.
• Create a culture of effectiveness by setting high standards for all students.
• Plan and implement a program of study in the assigned content area that meets student needs.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
• Create a classroom environment that engages students and helps them achieve objectives.
• Establish learning objectives aligned with district goals and communicate them clearly.
• Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Diagnose learning challenges and maintain records for IEPs and 504 plans.
• Provide instruction for all students, including those with disabilities and limited English proficiency.
• Prepare materials and provide varied activities for learning and imaginative play.
• Encourage students to explore and persevere through challenges.
• Use diverse techniques to promote critical and creative thinking.
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to assess progress.
• Assign and grade classwork and homework.
• Act as test administrator for NC assessments and comply with related guidelines.
• Observe and assess student performance, behavior, and development regularly.
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress and collaborate with counselors and administrators.
• Prepare enrichment and remediation programs.
• Participate in PLCs and data-driven instructional planning.
• Engage in professional development to improve skills and knowledge.
• Perform safety functions and drills to maintain a safe learning environment.
